How to Make a Holiday Wreath
If you’d like an elegant way to deck the halls for the holidays, festive wreaths look great everywhere! Try them placed on top of a mirror, a painting or hanging on doors. Check out these easy ways to make gorgeous wreaths that will suit your home perfectly!
Circle of Friends and Family
Create a special spot for your family and friends’ holiday cards this season – display them in a wreath! Here’s how to create your own:
14″ (or larger) embroidery hoop
Small clothespins (craft stores carry a fun assortment of colors with glitter and patterns)
Place each clothespin about 1 ½-2 inches apart around the rim of the hoop, alternating them facing in and out (you’ll need to display cards inside and outside of the hoop, so make sure to alternate). Glue each clothespin down in its designated place. As your first few rounds of Christmas cards and family newsletters begin to pile up, clip them all around your wreath.
Holiday Wreath Wrap
Spruce up your home with a wreath wrapped in a plaid, striped or glittery ribbon. You can even choose a patterned ribbon to match a fabric in your home.
Styrofoam® wreath form
1 ½ inch-wide ribbon (you’ll need 5-6 yards depending on the size of your wreath form)
Toothpicks and T-Pins
First, paint your wreath in a color that will blend in with your ribbon and let it dry. Then you can begin wrapping it. Use a T-pin to attach the ribbon at the start and the end. Make sure you hide the pins on the back of the wreath. Add some extra ribbon in a bow to top it off and you’re done!
Ode to Ornaments Wreath
Add more holiday flair to your wreath by including colorful ornaments!
1 Styrofoam® circle (bigger is best)
Hot glue gun
Several glue gun sticks
Lots of lightweight plastic ball ornaments (try using different sizes)
To avoid white spots after you’ve finished, you may want to paint your circle before you start gluing (unless you’re going with a white/silver theme). Then, take your circle and start gluing ornaments around the outside. It’s best to use the same size all around the outer edge. Then improvise with different size balls to see what fits best where.
Wreaths are a wonderful way to bring holiday tradition into your home! Happy decorating!
